Timothy Rivera

Timothy John Rivera September 21, 1977 – August 18, 2014 Airman. Father. Husband. Brother. Son. Timothy Rivera was all of these things and so much more to those who knew and loved him. After a long battle with cancer, Tim passed peacefully from this world on August 18, 2014, he was surrounded by his family and friends. While taken far too young, Tim left a lasting mark in this world and an eternal impression on everyone who met him. Tim was born in Manhattan, and raised in Queens, NY, where he made friends who would last throughout his life. A prankster and early partner in crime with his sister, Mimi, Tim was always getting into trouble as a boy. With his quick wit and an ever sarcastic sense of humor, Tim might have found a little trouble when young but he always made life fun and funny for everyone. Tim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1996, and traveling the world with the Corps was one of his greatest life experiences. After an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Tim enlisted with the United States Air Force in order to pursue a military career with better bunks and chow. Tim was selected to be a Special Agent in the OSI and was once chosen OSI Agent of the Year, a great honor. While with the OSI, Tim served multiple tours of duty in locations he could not reveal to you without having to then kill you. Never a soldier, always an airman; Tim served his country with honor and distinction, he only left the military when illness forced him. Tim’s wife, Cely, stepdaughter Lexa, and his son Sebastian, were his world and he loved nothing more than to be with them at home. Tim’s marriage to Cely on April 23, 2005, was widely acknowledged to be the best decision he ever made. Their home was, and is, always full of laughter and love, food and fun… as well as cousins, in-laws and friends! Tim loved sci-fi and scary movies, Dungeons & Dragons and ESPN. Tim played video games of all kinds and thought it was important that Sebastian have an X-Box in his bedroom. As an avid New York sports fan, Tim was always ready to talk about the latest game, or argue the pros and cons of the latest draft or trade (just don’t ask which team he was actually a fan of). Tim loved to eat and held a true belief that hot sauce is a food group and therefore belongs at every meal. To share a good joke, a good meal, or a good game with Tim was to truly know him. Dominoes anyone? Capicu, bitches! Airman, Father, Husband, Brother, Son. You are forever in our heart. We are forever one.
