Julia Marie Hartman, 64, of Mays Landing, who was born on July 10, 1949, went home to be with her parents Alvin E. and Julia (Allhiser) Hartman on May 31, 2014. Julia worked at Karin’s Curtains until they closed and WalMart in Mays Landing. Julia loved quilting, painting, and crafting. She is survived by her brother Eugene Hartman (Tracy), her sister Mary Jane Hartman, her niece Julie Young, and her nephew Zachary Hartman. She will also be missed by her many cousins and friends. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 11 AM, at the Union Cemetery in Mays Landing.

Doris M. Podlucky passed away peacefully on June 10, 2014 at Eger Nursing Home, where she resided since October 2006. A native Staten Islander, who moved to Mays Landing, NJ in 1976 . Preceded in death by her husband of 30 years Ernest, survived by her three children: Robert, Diane, and Lori Beauchamp and one grandchild, Alexis. Doris was a kind, compassionate, caring, friendly woman who touched everyone she met. She enjoyed the sun, nature, and being outdoors especially near the ocean. She especially enjoyed visiting Ocean City, NJ. Doris will forever be in our hearts and minds. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 1:30pm at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery in Estell Manor.

James W. Gladney, “Reds”, 79, of Egg Harbor Twp., passed away on June 9, 2014. Born and raised in Pleasantville, he lived in Bridgeton for several years before moving back to Atlantic County in 1979. Reds served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW Post 9462 and the American Legion Post 28 both of Absecon. Reds worked for Owens Illinois Glass House of Bridgeton, then at Resorts and retired from the Taj Mahal. He was also a member of Local 54 Unite Here for 25 years. Reds best times were spent with his family and devoted grandchildren. He also enjoyed activities with the VFW and American Legion and was very proud of his service to his Country “Semper Fi”. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten by his wife of 31 years Barbara (nee: Ferretti), his five children, Ricky (Karen), Vicky, Maryann (JR), Bobby, and Richard, 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends. A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 12, 7-9 PM, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 13, 11 AM, at the Church of St. Katharine Drexel, 6077 West Jersey Ave., Egg Harbor Township, where a viewing will be held one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery in Estell Manor. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of St. Katharine Drexel Building Fund, 6077 West Jersey Ave., Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234.

Paul E. Jones, 61, of Mays Landing, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2014. Paul was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia before moving to Mays Landing four years ago to live with his sister and brother-in-law. He enjoyed reading and was an American War history buff. Paul was also an avid Phillies fan and loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He is survived by his three siblings, Mary (Jeff), Chris (Margie), and Sue, and his adored nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday June 12th from 1-1:30, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, NJ, where a service will be held at 1:30. Burial will be private.

CHARLES EDWARD ZIEGLER, JR., 82, of Galloway, passed away Monday, June 16th 2014. Charles was born October 30, 1931 in Patterson. He lived there and Wayne for 50 years before moving to Galloway. He worked at Sloan Roofing and Newark Daily News. From 1967 to 1992, he worked at Garden State Paper Company as an operating engineer in Local 68. Charles was pre-deceased by Mary Ziegler (Pierson), his wife of 50 years, his father Charles Ziegler, Sr., mother Mable Ziegler (Nolan), sister Joan, brother Robert, and niece Patricia. Charles loved his family very much and spent most of his time with them. He loved to play bingo and was an avid New York Giants/Yankees fan. He is survived by his brother Edward Ziegler of Naples, FL, his 4 children David Ziegler (Meo) of Galloway, Robert Ziegler of Galloway, Kathleen O’Brien (Michael) of Brigantine, and Lynn Minor (Louis) of Galloway. Also, his seven grandchildren Michelle, Richie, Courtney, Mike, C.J., Joe, and Zack and three great grandchildren Jordan, Maria, and Isabella. Relatives and friends are invited to gather Friday, June 20th from 11:00am.-1:00pm. at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing where services will be held at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Elizabeth Miller, “Betty”, 83, of Blue Heron Pines, Galloway Twp., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 20, 2014. Betty was raised in Atlantic City and a lifelong area resident. She was an accomplished artist and received many awards from juried art shows. Betty was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, and loved spending time with her family and especially her grandson “Little John”, her pride and joy. She was an active member of the Trinity Alliance Church of Galloway. Betty will be sadly missed but never forgotten by her husband of 64 years Russell E., her three children, Kathleen Warburton (Dan), Robert (Sheila), and John, her three grandchildren, Elizabeth Hessom (Clyde), Justin Warburton (Heather) and John Jr., her one great grandson Jacob Hessom, her extended family from Trinity Alliance, and numerous other friends. A celebration of Betty’s life will be shared on Thursday, June 26th, 5pm, at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Route 50, Estell Manor, NJ.

Arthur J. Reynolds, 72, of Mays Landing, passed away on June 25, 2014. Art was a lifelong area resident. He served in the US Army during Vietnam. Art retired from ACME of Mays Landing, after 41 years of dedicated service. He was an active member of the Emmanuel Congregational Church of Egg Harbor City. During his leisure time he was an avid reader, completing over 2,339 books throughout his life. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Connie, his four children, Jennifer, Bill (Melody), Jessica Haviland (Mark), and Kate Prince (James), his five grandsons, Patrick, Griffin, Zephyr, Indigo, and Vale, his three siblings, John, Nelson, and Ann Harris, and numerous other relatives and friends. A celebration of Art’s life will be shared on Sunday, June 29th, 1PM, at the Emmanuel Congregational Church, 101 Liverpool Ave., Egg Harbor City, NJ. Theresa Heath-Logan, age 54, passed away June 30th, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. She was born November 13th 1959 at ACMC to Ralph and Anita Heath of EHT, and Brothers Michael and Scott Heath. Theresa has four children, Daughter Lori Lynn Logan, Sons Michael Logan, Justin Logan, and youngest daughter Sabrina Miller, along with 3 grandsons born to Lori Lynn. She attended Absegami High School. Theresa was an outstanding artist and loved horses growing up. Theresa had a rough life that she admitted was due in part of her own choices. Despite her circumstances she was one of the most generous giving individuals you could come across. Her children knew her as a loving mother that did the best she could do under her circumstances. We know Theresa is finally at peace, giving us, as family members, a comfort that we will see her again because before she passed she gave her life to Christ, and if we all do the same and endure till the end, we will be spending eternity with her and our Lord and savior. A memorial service will be held Tuesday evening at 7pm. at New Life Assembly Church located at 5071 Fernwood Ave, EHT, NJ 08234. All are welcome to celebrate her life.

Ernest E. Gregg, Jr., 60, of Dorothy, Passed away on July 5, 2014. Born at Mather Air Force Base in CA, he moved to NJ where his mother originated from at a young age. Ernie Spent the last 45+ yrs in Atlantic County. Beloved husband of 25 yrs. of Kimberly, Step-Father of Jonathan Hazelwood & Jeremy Ireland, Grandfather of Jamie & Hayley Ireland, Son-in-Law of Geneva & Carl Hazelwood, Brother-In-Law of David, Kevin & Tim Hazelwood, Denise Hazelwood Clouting and Kristie (Hazelwood) Robinson, and lifelong friend of many. He graduated from Absegami High School and attended Stockton State College. He worked as a civilian Naval employee during Vietnam, was a locksmith for many years for Smith Brothers in Atlantic City, retired after almost 20 years of service at Atlantic County Justice Facility, and worked for a few years at the Sheriff’s Dept. ID Bureau. He volunteered for many years with the Galloway Twp. Rescue Squad, was a longtime member of Trinity Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He was an avid shooter, firearms instructor, armorer and Cowboy Action Shooter, a HAM Radio Operator, and enjoyed tinkering with computers & other electronics. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Moreno and grandparents. Survivors include his aunt, Linda Paul & Herman of Roseland, uncle, Tom Mariner & Marylou of FL, and several cousins. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, NJ 08330 where friends may gather from 6:00 – 7:30 PM, followed by a Masonic Service at 7:30, and Reflections & Religious service at 8:00 PM. Ruth Ann Samuelsen, (nee Nefferdorf), 56, of Mays Landing, N.J. passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014, surrounded by her family. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Gene Samuelsen and loving daughter, Jennifer Samuelsen. Also, her mother, Shirley Nefferdorf, companion Jim Jobson; sisters, Linda Denelsbeck and Shirley Cavileer, brother Edward Nefferdorf; nephew, Jesse Denelsbeck, Josh Cavileer, Jeremy Cavileer and Jim Nefferdorf; her in-laws Rita Samuelsen, (predeceased George), Georgette, Tony, Lucy, George, Kay, Erica, Dana, Angela, Kayla, Breanna, Zachary; and great nieces Gia and Stella, and many lifelong friends. She was predeceased by father, Kenard Nefferdorf, brother, Ken Nefferdorf (survived by Maria), nephew Ken Nefferdorf and niece, Faith Nefferdorf. Born April 21, 1958, in Philadelphia, PA, she moved to Oceanville, NJ. Ruth attended Vineland School for Nursing while working at Cousin Mario’s in Mays Landing. She worked as a LPN for Our Lady’s Health Care in Pleasantville 15 years. Most recently worked as a LPN for Maxim Healthcare Services in Linwood. She loved life, the beach, the outdoors, hiking, biking and gardening. The viewing will be held on Saturday, July 12, at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, N.J. from 3pm until 5 pm. Services will be held following the viewing at 5pm. Great nephew, Dylan will forever miss his “Boom Boom”. Jeffrey Wood, 65, born September 30, 1948. Jeff was raised in Mays Landing then later moved into Egg Harbor Township. He passed into heaven on July 14, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Jeff was very active in 4-H throughout his youth. He graduated from Oakcrest High School in 1966, Delaware Valley College in 1970 and received his masters from Rutgers University in 1972. He taught Horticulture at Somerset County Vo Tech and was the founder of Atlantic Nursery in Mays Landing, NJ where he worked for 32 years. He leaves behind Lynn, his wife of 42 years, his daughter Mindy (Mike) Pomatto, son David (Kylene) Wood, sister Melissa (Jim) Clayton, and several nieces and nephews. “Poppy” cherished every minute with his grandchildren Mya, Michaela, Skyler, and Kayden. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, golf, chainsaw carving, gardening, antique flea markets, riding in his jeep, trips to Cape May, biking, visiting historic places, watching the Phillies games, his annual salmon fishing trip, and just relaxing on his deck watching beautiful sunsets on the Great Egg Harbor River. Jeff is predeceased by his parents Norma and David and his sister Patricia. Anyone who knew Jeff will remember his kind spirit and gentle nature,…always having a joke to share. Services for Jeff will be held on Sunday, July 20 at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing. Family and friends may gather beginning at 2 PM with a memorial service at 3:30. Burial will be private. Jeff’s favorite quote: “Always look on the bright side.”
