Thomas Augustin

Thomas Eugene Augustin, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 5, 2012. Tom was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Tom was born in Greenwich, CT and had lived in many states before settling in Mays Landing, NJ. He earned is degree in Physics from the University of Connecticut in 1956 and his career developed from test engineer to master Program Manager. He had an active corporate life for over 45 years – working for NASA (Mercury and Apollo), the Department of Defense and the Federal Aviation Administration.
After retirement, Tom focused on the things he loved best – woodworking, fishing and his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Abby, seven children and 13 grandchildren. He was committed to his family and his community.
Tom faced adversity with levelheadedness and logic. When heart issues threatened his quality of life in 2011, he successfully became the first patient in NJ to undergo the Edward Sapien Percutaneous Heart Valve procedure.

His integrity and courage set the example for all who knew him. His love for life continued to the end. He was a true inspiration to friends, family and colleagues and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive guests at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, NJ, on Friday, 12:00 noon to 2:00pm, followed by a service at 2 PM, and burial at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery in Estelle Manor.
