Doris A. McPartland, of Mays Landing, formally of Somers Point, passed away on Tuesday morning, October 10, 2012, at the age of 77. Doris was born in Union City, New Jersey, predeceased by husband Eugene McPartland, parents Felix and Charlotte Weigelt, and brother in-law Ed Regan.
She is survived by her sister Helen Regan of Hartford, CT, brother Frank Weigelt and wife Ginny of Egg Harbor Twp, 3 sons, Danny and wife Sandi of Mays Landing, David of Ewing, and Donald of Philadelphia, PA, 4 grandchildren Ryan, Megan, Ashley and Amanda, and a great granddaughter Kayleigh, daughter of Megan and Howie Hall; and her sister-in-law Margaret McPartland.
Doris was an avid animal lover, supporter of animal charities, and enjoyed spending time with family members. She spent her last 10 years in home created for her as a part of son Danny and wife Sandi’s house in Mays Landing which provided a supportive, loving and caring space for her final years. Thanks to the care, love and constant encouragement of Danny and Sandi and other family members, Doris enjoyed a very happy and enjoyable life in a picturesque setting. The Mays Landing household served as the family center for all holidays and occasions, providing frequent visits from family members, and opportunities for her favorite activity, caring for family, especially her grandchildren and great grand daughter. Thanks to her family’s vigilance, Doris was able to enjoy a healthy life completely avoiding any hospital stays until the brief overnight stay during which she passed. Doris was the resident pet baby sitter, always willing to help out a family member in need. She provided a loving home for many dogs and cats during her lifetime. Doris will be greatly missed by her entire extended family including crush, daisy and miss winston, as well as all the birds and deer living or passing through the Mays Landing area.
On Saturday, October 13th, there will be visitation held at Boakes Funeral home, located at 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ 08330, beginning at 12 noon with a service following at 1:30 PM.
