Clik here to view.Taylor, Barbara A., 58, of Mays Landing, passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2014. Barbara was born and raised in Bucks County, PA and moved to Atlantic County 30 years ago. She worked for the ACCVA in convention services until her retirement in 2004. Barbara is predeceased by her parents Harold Gilfert and Ann Hallman, and her son Matt Zaydel. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten by her wife Sheryl Zaydel. Barbara also leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons, Travis and Michael, her sister Gretchen Halfpenny (Jim), her step-father Ron Hallman, her grandchildren, Annaleise, Chase, and Morgan, and numerous other relatives and friends. A viewing will be held on Friday, December 12th, from 5-7pm, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where a service will follow at 7pm. Clik here to view.Nicholas M. Vinci, Jr., 68. The Lord reached down and took one of his beloved children back to heaven. Nick of Brigantine, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, December 7, 2014 alongside his loving wife and best friend. Nick was born and raised in Doylestown, PA and enjoyed his summer days as a teen vacationing in Wildwood and playing musical gigs along the South Jersey shore. In the summer of 60’, his teenage band ‘The Val-Tones’, appeared on the Steel Pier of Atlantic City and Nick’s love for the shore and music became his lifelong passion. He was later accepted into The Julliard School of Music and the Arts, where he attended for two years until enlisting in the U.S Navy. Nick proudly served four years aboard various naval vessels during the Vietnam Era, most notably the USS Midway and the USS Enterprise. Nicholas always spoke very fondly of his shipmates, memories and friendships formed during his time of service and always said the pacific had some of the most beautiful sights in the world. Upon his return home, he completed his Arts Degree from Julliard and remained in New York City playing on Broadway in various shows and musicals. Most notably, the original production of Grease. After spending eight years in New York, Nick moved to South Jersey to continue his music carrier in Atlantic City. Soon after, he met his true love and wife of 35 years, Marita and settled in Brigantine where they raised their family. Nicholas always lived his life knowing that the Lord was guiding his path. He was an inspiration to many people by the strength of his faith and the unshakable trust he put in God’s plan. He enjoyed sharing his love of music with students. He will be lovingly missed but never forgotten by his wife, Marita D. (nee: Cornett), his two sons, Richard and Justin (Danielle), his granddaughter Jillian, and numerous other relatives and friends. Nicholas is predeceased by his Father Nicholas Vinci Sr., Mother Angelina and Brother Leonard all of whom he loved so very much. A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing from 11am to 1pm followed by a service at 1pm. Internment with Military Honors will be at Atlantic County Veteran’s Cemetery, Route 50, Estell Manor, NJ at 2pm. Clik here to view.Alfred Bernard Schultz, 89, of Mays Landing passed away peacefully with his daughter and nephew by his side on December 13, 2014. He was born in the Bronx, NY and resided there until enlisting in the Army in 1944 during WWII. He served in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged in 1946. After returning to the states, he rode his motorcycle cross country to attend auto mechanics training in Glendale, CA. He returned to New York to work as an auto mechanic and service writer for various automobile dealerships. He was married to Diana in 1958 and had a daughter in 1962. He finished his working career as a computer specialist and did not retire until age 81. He had various hobbies and interests over his lifetime. One of the first was riding motorcycles and participating in cross-country racing where he sometimes rode in the sidecar. After marrying Diana, the hobbies got a little safer and he loved photography, racing model cars, flying model rockets and model airplanes, and was a ham radio operator who had the privilege of operating from the Statue of Liberty during its 100 year celebration. His last and greatest passion was for computers. He even had one of the originals, a Commodore 64. He continued this hobby until his death. He had a great passion for cats and had many over his lifetime. His final cat, Shtinky was his twin and they truly loved each other. He is survived by his daughter, Marci, his nephew, Bruce, his cat Shtinky, and many friends who adored him. He was a kind and loving person who never hesitated to help any of his friends or his daughter with a home improvement project. He will be missed terribly. Funeral services will be held at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing on Monday, December 15. Family will be receiving guests starting at 9:30 am with the funeral service set to start at 10 am. Burial will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ. Donations can be sent in lieu of flowers to the American Heart Association.

Clik here to view.Jason J. Guerrera, 43 went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Jason was born in Atlantic City, and grew up in Galloway Township, N.J. His competitive, passionate nature, mixed with his talents, allowed him to excel in sports and make many lifelong friends. He married and moved to Cumberland County where he and his wife Kristy owned and operated Airborne Gymnastics. Later he opened The Shark Tank where he and his staff instructed children and adults in the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He achieved many things in life but he would tell you his greatest accomplishment was his two sons, Jason and Jadon Guerrera. Jason’s smile, quick wit, loyalty, and love for his family will leave a void in the lives of all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind his mother, Cynthia Forman of Mays Landing, his father Arthur V. Guerrera of Florida, his sons, Jason and Jadon, their loving mother Kristy (Tamburro) Guerrera, his sister, Lisa Jiampetti and Brother-in-Law Michael Jiampetti, his Uncle Anthony Guerrera, Aunt Carol DeRosa, Uncle Michael (Joyce) Minovich, nephews, Ryan Brodton, Michael and Matthew Jiampetti and great-nephew, Ryder Brodton, many cousins and friends that he considered family. Clik here to view.Grieco, Athena Melanie, (nee: Stein) succumbed after a long year of battling late-stage lung cancer, in her Mays Landing home early this Tuesday evening at 7:05 pm. She was 58. Athena was a lover of animals, knowledge, and — most of all — love. To those who she decided to love, her devotion was total, even in the face of personal struggles. She is survived by her pets, Kiana and Mona; her three brothers: Ares, Robert and Brian; her sister, Gale; two ex-husbands, Jim and Frank; her son, Tye; her nieces and nephews; and her mother, Agnes. She will be missed.

He attended St. Michael’s where he learned to speak English. He served in the Navy, worked for Previti Meat Market, and drove for Federal Wine and Liquor. He later worked for the Atlantic County Justice Facility for almost 30 years until he retired. He loved Atlantic City, the ocean, beach, boardwalk, and the salty sea air. His passion was making you a meal; he could make you something from nothing, and you always felt his love through food. We will miss this man. LOVE YOU DADDY. Ed was born in Johnstown, PA, raised in Cedarbrook, and moved to Mays Landing in 1950. He was a foreman for William B. Kessler Clothing factory of Hammonton for many years. In 1978 he opened Ed’s Auto of Mays Landing where he enjoyed talking with his local community. Ed enjoyed his mud truck racing with his family and friends over the past 15 years. He also loved going on Cruises with his wife, brother-in-law and sister-in-law. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten by his wife Arlene, his four children Ed Jr., Jackie Johnson (Ballard), Larry, Michelle James (Brian), his step-daughter Leeann Stuller (Joe), his step-sons Larry Joslyn (Tina) and Walt Jenigan (Patty), his grandchildren, his sisters Becky, Norine, Anna, Mildred, Eleanor, Betty, and Hilda, his brothers Larry and John, special friend Janece Lipka, and numerous other relatives and friends. Born and raised in Atlantic City, she lived in Galloway for many years before moving to Corbin City five years ago. Dolores along with her late husband led a prayer group at Assumption Church of Galloway for over 20 years. She was also involved in the music ministry and other church activities. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William Thomas Kary. Dolores will be sadly missed but never forgotten by her daughter Kathy Stevens and her husband Ronald, her granddaughter Kimberly Schulte and her husband Robert, and her great-grandson Matthew Schulte. She will be greatly missed by her faithful companions Max, Maggie, Buster, and Daisy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 30th, 11 AM, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 200 West Tuckahoe Rd., Marmora, where a viewing will be held from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. Clik here to view.Oleta P. Bennett (88) of Absecon, NJ, passed peacefully in her home on December 25, 2014. She was born on July 5, 1926 in Audubon, NJ. Oleta lived all her life in South Jersey. Her childhood was spent on the Absecon Island beaches, watching over her five younger siblings. Oleta and Horace Bennett (deceased December 10, 2014) spent their 63 years of marriage in the Pleasantville and Absecon communities surrounded by family and many friends. Oleta enjoyed a long and happy career in management with Starn’s Shoprite, from which she eventually retired. She is survived by her sister, Lois (Goodman) Stockton of Northfield, NJ, sister-in-law Jenny B. (Bennett) Reid and brother-in-law Clifford A. Bennett and wife Betty; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. She is pre-deceased by her husband Horace D. Bennett, Jr.; her mother Oleta (Platt) Goodman and father Harry A. Goodman, Sr.; her siblings Harry A. Goodman, Jr.; Edward G. Goodman, Sr.; Georgie Mae (Goodman) Chew; and Phyllis Goodman. Oleta and Horace Bennett together enjoyed their home in Absecon, and one in Pleasantville prior. Oleta was a gifted baker and all her recipes were executed with perfection and love. Her family enjoyed the delicious results and hope to carry-on some of her recipes. Although Oleta never had any children of her own, she will live in our hearts and memories as unselfishly giving both motherly and grandmotherly love. A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 10-11:30 AM at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where services will be held at 11:30.
