ANTHONY SCARDINO, 91, of Mays Landing passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2012 after suffering a stroke. Anthony was born in Philadelphia, PA and later moved to Hammonton where he grew up with his parents, Nicandro and Maria Scardino and three brothers (Frank, Salvatore, Roland) and two sisters (Anna, Madeline). Anthony served in the United States Marine Corps in the Central Pacific Theater during World War II from 1942 to 1945. Later, Anthony enlisted in the United Air Force and competed a 21-year career that included service in Korea during the Korean War. After his retirement from the military service, Anthony settled in Mays Landing where he raised his family and was employed at the Hamilton Township MUA. In addition to his parents and siblings, Anthony is pre-deceased by his wife Eleanor (Kane). Anthony is survived by his son Mark and wife Janet Scardino (Midland), son Michael and his wife Karen (Kaenzig), son John and his wife Terry (Howardell), son Dan Scardino. son Thomas Scardino, daughter Mary Sisselberger (Scardino) and her husband George, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Anthony will be missed by his family and many friends. A viewing will be held on Saturday, October 20, from 10 AM – 12 Noon, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where services will be held at 12 Noon. Burial with full military honors will be at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery in Estell Manor.
