Mildred Helen Mangels , 85, of Mays Landing, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2013. She was born September 21, 1927, in Inwood, Long Island, to Helen and William Rollberg and graduated from Lawrence High School in Long Island. She is survived by her husband, William Mangels, whom she married on September 24, 1949, and they enjoyed 63 years of wonderful marriage. Also surviving are her daughters, Karen Riess of Marlboro, NJ, and Nancy Royce of Colts Neck, NJ, and her grandchildren, Michael and Lauren Riess. She was predeceased by her sister, Virginia Holden. Mildred was Secretary to the Dean of Students at Hofstra University for over 15 years. She loved to play Mah Jongg, travel, and spend time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a great wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, May 23, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. The burial will follow at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery of Estell Manor. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 420, Mays Landing, NJ 08330.
