Raymond Newkirk

Raymond R. Newkirk, of Galloway, died Friday, January 4th, 2013 after an extended illness. Born in Atlantic City, Ray was a life-long resident of the area and was employed by the Pennsylvania Reading Railroad, Seashore Lines. In semi-retirement, Ray drove a school bus for the Ventnor School District. Ray was a proud and active member of multiple Masonic Lodges after having been raised at Henry Haines Lodge in 1954. He was a Past Master of Charles Mann Lodge in 1967, Belcher Lodge in 1996, Keystone Lodge in 2002, and was a Past Grand Chaplain of Grand Lodge in 1979. Predeceased by his son, Thomas, he is survived by his son, Dr. Mark Newkirk (Susan); his grandchildren: Clay, Tom, Victoria, Matthew, and Michael; his brother Charles; sisters: Joan (Mangold) and Jane (Florence); sister-in-law Joan (Newkirk); many nieces and nephews; as well as his long-time loving companion, Dorothey Gangloff, with whom he resided in Galloway. Friends will be received from 12-1 PM, on Saturday, January 12, at St. Mark and All Saints Church, 429 S. Pitney Rd., Galloway, where Masonic Services will be held at 1 PM, followed by a Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Masonic Charity Foundation of NJ, 902 Jacksonville Rd., Burlington Twp., NJ 08016.
