Survived by his parents Andrew Holoman, Sr. and Kelly Smith and his baby twin sister Lacey Ann Holoman. Grandparents George and MaryAnn Holoman, William and Carol Smith, Aunt Katie Zane, Uncle Joshua Holoman, Aunt Jessica Johnston, Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Douglas Kroger, and cousins Nicole Bigelow and Joshua Holoman, Jr. and many other loved ones. Services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013, 3:30 p.m. at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ, where family and friends will be received from 3pm till the time of the service.

Diane L. Barrett, 65, of Mays Landing, passed away suddenly on January 22, 2013, at her home. Diane was raised in Mays Landing and received her RN degree from Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. She moved to Clearwater, FL in 1977 where she worked in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit of Morton Plant Hospital for 20 years. In 1997 Diane moved back to Mays Landing to lovingly care for her mother. She has been a resident of the Oaks of Weymouth for the past 10 years and was working in customer service for Absecon Mills for the past 9 years. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Hazel Barrett. She will be sadly missed by her sister Betty Jo Nickles, her brother Douglas R. Barrett (Annamarie), her two nieces Erin and Amy, her three nephews, Robert, John, and Tyler, and numerous other relatives and friends. A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 27th, from 2-4pm, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where reflections will be shared at 4pm. Janet (Nee Rose) Gagnon 83 of Mays Landing Passed away January 26, at home. Born in New York City she was raised in New Brunswick NJ. She was a long time resident of Laureldale NJ. Janet was married to Robert for 55 years before his death in 2006. She was also predeceased by her son Mark Sr. in 2006. Surviving are her children: Adele Eastlack (Frank), Monique Murray (Larry Sr.), Matthew (Faith), 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Brother Jack Rose and many extended family members and dear friends. Janet was a career Registered Nurse who worked at Kessler Hospital from the time it opened until she retired in 1987 as the Assistant to the Administrator. Relatives and friends are invited to gather to celebrate her life on January 29th, from 1-2:30 PM at Boakes Funeral Home 6050 Main Street Mays Landing NJ, 08330, where services will be held at 2:30 PM. Barbara Jean Brighton-Mergliano 66, of Mays Landing passed away on January 25, 2013 from cancer. Born on August 29, 1946 in Atlantic City, NJ, the daughter of Thomas Brighton and Edith Shields. Barbara worked at Tropicana Casino and Resort as an Accounts Clerk, where she received the 25 Years Of Service Award. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul parish and Gildas Club of South Jersey. In her spare time she enjoyed trips to Boscov’s with her sister and playing Farmville. She is survived by her Husband, Rosario J. Mergliano, Daughter Denise McGee- Escribano (Irwin) of Atlantic City, Son Jerry McGee of Ocean City, Daughter in-law Nancy Eng (Richard) of Jackson Twp., Grandchildren Thomas, Jason and Kaitlyn Meredith of Atlantic City, Dominick James McGee of Jackson Twp., Great-Grandchildren Jason and Lillyanna Meredith of Atlantic City, Sister Carol Hepburn-Yozzo of New York and many Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. She is predeceased by her son Richard J. James Birbiglia

James A. Birbiglia, “Big Jim” 90, of Mays Landing, passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2013. Jim served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, where he was stationed in the South Pacific. In 1946, he married Anne Uzzolino and had two children. He worked for Hoffmann-La-Roche in Nutley and Belvidere, NJ, and retired as the Director of Chemical Production in 1980 after 40 years of service. After retirement Jim moved to Wildwood Crest, where he enjoyed the beach and body surfing with his grandchildren and friends. He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Assumption and St. Vincent DePaul Churches, where he was active in the Legion of Mary. As a man who practiced Christian values, he was devoted to his wife and family. He enjoyed having macaroni on Sunday and listening to “Mob Hits” in his Cadillac. Preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Anne, he will always be remembered by his daughters, Joan Klaver-Caniz of Mays Landing and Donna Moran of Gettysburg, PA, his two beloved grandchildren Melissa Roeder of Cape May Court House and Garrett Klaver of Gettysburg, PA, his brother Christopher Birbiglia of Flagler Beach, FL, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 29th, 11:00am, at the St. Vincent DePaul Church, 5021 Harding Hwy., Mays Landing, NJ 08330, where friends and family may gather from 10am till the time of the mass. Joseph Ponticello

Joseph L. Ponticello, 83, of Mays Landing (formerly of South Philadelphia) passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2013. Joe was born and raised in Philadelphia and shared most of his years with his family in both Philadelphia and Atlantic City. As a young boy of the Depression era, he worked at Palumbo’s Night Club in Philadelphia to help his parents and family and continued there for over fifty years while pursuing an education and ultimately working and retiring from the Philadelphia Board of Education. He is also a Veteran of the U.S. Army, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1953. During his retirement years he traveled and enjoyed life with his wife Josephine and relocated to the Fairways in Mays Landing. He also worked contractually during his retirement at Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City enjoying meeting and mingling with many people. Joe had many blessings in life and is survived by his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Josephine. They were married at Epiphany of Our Lord Church in Philadelphia where he also served as a lector and sang with his sister, Rita. Joe leaves behind a daughter, Marianne and her husband Matthew Ranieri; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Ponticello. He was also a wonderful and loving “Pop-pop” to granddaughters Caitlin Ponticello and Venus & Alexandria Ranieri. Joe was predeceased by his loving and devoted son Joseph B. Ponticello. Joe was also predeceased by his sister, Rita Ponticello, and he also leaves behind a half-brother, Gino Azzena. Joe is lovingly remembered by his extended family and many friends. His smile, his singing and his love and generosity will be sorely missed. A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 31 from 10:00am- 11:30am at St. Vincent De Paul Church, 5021 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, NJ 08330 with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:30am. Richard (Dick) Whittaker passed away on January 26th surrounded by his loving family at the AC Trauma Center following a critical injury that occurred while doing what he loved best. He was born and raised in Margate, NJ, resided in Absecon for 20 years and has lived in Mays Landing for the past 28 years. He was predeceased by his precious daughter Dorie, his parents, Albert & Edna Whittaker, his Aunt Birdie and siblings Virginia, Albert, Dorothy and Charles. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 55 years Doris and his daughters, Donna Falco (Jay) of Lincroft, NJ and Joan (Jeffrey) of Mays Landing. His adoring grandchildren Kristen & John Falco and Hillary & Nicole Monroe, step grandchildren Tyler & Nathan Ballinger, step great grandson Jaxson Ballinger, Siblings Ruth Appel, William Whittaker (Jackie) and Jane McCarrich (Tom), as well as his in-laws Notral Whittaker, Marie & Bill Bartelt & Ruth Bugdon and dozens of loving nieces and nephews. He was an amazing carpenter who worked at Pacemaker Boat works for 22 years and then retired after 28 years of service from Atlantic County Public Works in 2007. He loved to work with his hands and was never to busy or tired to help his family and friends do whatever needed to be done. He loved to ride his quad and playing with his “best bud” Ginger. Hedwig Mandradjieff

Hedwig Mandradjieff, 91 of Mays Landing, NJ, formerly of Perkasie, PA, passed away on January 28, 2013 at the Crest Haven Nursing Home. Born in Wiesbaden, Germany, she moved with her family to Frankfurt where she was an avid gymnast preparing for the 1940 Olympics. While in Frankfurt she met her husband Peter and began raising their children. In 1952, she moved with her family to the US. While living in Perkasie, Hedy enjoyed riding her bicycle around town and volunteering at the local elementary school teaching the 4th grade children German. She was always ready for a new adventure including belly dancing. Preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Peter, she is survived by her two daughters Rosemarie Bromkamp (Joachim) of Germany and Karin, her son Marin (Mary), her four grandchildren, Peter, Lindy Fabyanic (Matt), Mara and Bette Bromkamp, her great-grandson Mason Fabyanic and her favorite cat VinDiesel. A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 2nd, from 10-11:30am, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, NJ, where services will be held at 11:30pm. Burial will be private.

Viola Armstrong

Armstrong, Viola S. (nee:Wolf), 94, of Mays Landing, passed away on January 26, 2013. Vi was born in Norristown, PA, on May 21, 1918. She spent her early years working as a cook/chef for many well known hotels near Philadelphia. She also owned a small luncheonette near Norristown. She later moved to Hollywood, FL and worked at the Holly Beach Hotel. Vi moved to the Atlantic City area in the 1960’s and continued her passion for cooking for several hotels in the area such as the Traymore, Shelburn and her last employment was with the Smithville Inn. Over the years she received many awards for her culinary creations. Vi was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Egg Harbor City. She was a devout Christian and a loyal friend to many. She volunteered and donated as much as she could to the American Cancer Society through the years. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas, her mother Emma Wolfe, her siblings, Margaret, Elizabeth, Grace, and Edward, and her longtime family friend Verna LaMarco. Vi will be sadly missed but never forgotten by her daughter Barbara Oswald and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A viewing will be held on Friday, February 1st from 11am-12 noon, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, NJ, where services will be held at Noon. Mallory Maher

Mallory Jane Maher, 28 years of age, passed away due to a drug overdose on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, hours after her birthday. A high school honor student, Mallory was beautiful, young, and had all the potential in the world – and she had a drug addiction. Her life up until 9 years ago was filled with her love of acting, drum corps, drill team, music, singing, renaissance fairs, Halloween, holidays, playing cards, reading, writing poetry, love and laughter. Mallory graduated from Egg Harbor Twp. High School in 2003. She was in the Who’s Who of America’s High Schools all four years and in the National Honor Society in her senior year. She attended Richard Stockton College for a bit and The National Institute of Massage also for a bit. She leaves behind a Son, Aidan, who she loved dearly; and Her Mother Debbie, who was there for her through the good and the bad. Standing close by was her Mom #2 Cindie, who loved Mallory like her own. She also leaves her Father Steve Maher and Grandmother Jane Maher of Indiana, and her Grandfather Joseph Connell of Florida. She was also loved by her Aunt Mary, Uncle Bobby, Aunt Ellie, Uncle Mike, Aunt Rose, Uncle Ken, and Uncle Jim. She will be missed by her cousins RJ, Brent, Alex, Sean, Joe, Ellie, Zachary, Lauren, and Kenny. She was welcomed into heaven by her Grandfather Thomas Maher, her Grandmother, Eleanor Connell, her Aunts Patti Connell and Nancy Connell Prepsel, and her Uncle Billy and Uncle Craig. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, February 3, 1-3 PM, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where reflections will be shared at 3 PM. James A. Mancuso, Sr., 75, of Mays Landing, laid his soul to rest on Thursday, January 31, 2013, surrounded by the love of his family; his wife of 56 years Sharon, his three sons who he loved so very much, James A., Jr. (Cheri), George C. (Liz), and Robert G. (Diane), his loving grandchildren who were able to be with him on his last journey; Jennifer, Jorden, Jimmy, Lauren, George, Jr., Paul, Dominic, and Genna, and his five great-grandchildren. Prior to his retirement, Jim worked for Tasty Baking Co. as a driver, salesman, and District Manager, for over 40 years. He enjoyed going to Dover Downs Nascar races and was a member of the Cruisin Classics Auto Club, but his favorite place to be was Myrtle Beach SC, sitting on the beach watching the waves roll in. Jim was predeceased by his brother Robert F. Mancuso, his parents Nancy and Alfonso, and his mother-in-law Evelyn B. Fabian. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, February 4th, from 11am-12noon, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where reflections will be shared at noon. Ruth Branks, 93, of Stuart, FL passed away quietly on February 1, 2013. Born Ruth Marie Toy in the summer of 1919, she was raised in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from Libby High School in 1937. She worked for Champion Spark Plug Mfg during WWII and later came east to visit relatives in Philadelphia, PA. She made her way to Atlantic City, where she worked at the great Chalfonte-Haddon Hall Hotel on the boardwalk. In town she met and married a Navy chief petty officer, Albert Branks. They were married for 45 years during which time they raised two children, traveled and enjoyed life together. She lived in southern New Jersey most of her adult life and was an avid reader. Her final years were spent in Florida near her daughter, who was also her caregiver for over a year. Ruth is predeceased by her husband Al, parents Frank and Helen Toy, her three brothers Lee, Bob, and Bud; and her daughter-in-law Sherry Branks. Surviving Ruth is her sister Ann, her daughter Patricia Bodie and her husband Bob, her son Larry, her granddaughters Jacquelyn and Stephanie, and one great-grandson, Ian. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 6, at 11:00am, where a viewing will be held from 10:00am til the time of the service, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing. Burial will be at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to The Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 S.E. Ryzinski, Renee L., 52, of Mays Landing, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 31, 2013. Born and raised in New Castle, PA, she has been a Mays Landing resident for 26 years. She graduated from high school in New Castle, PA. After moving to Mays Landing she attended Camden County College where she was the president of her class, received many awards for her achievements, and received her degree as a Registered Dental Hygienist with certification in NJ and PA. After college she worked for several dentists in the South Jersey Area. She was a member of Praise Tabernacle Church where she was the Assistant Director for the Sunday School program. Some of her fondest memories were spending vacations with family and friends at Walt Disney World. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Raymond; her son Brian; Her parents Edward and Helen Bistyga; her two sisters Cynthia (Dennis) Henderson and Michelle Omer, her brother Mark Bistyga; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful companions, her cats Jazzy and Lacey. A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 7, 5-7 PM at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where a service will be held at 7 PM. Laura Marie Yanniello, Nee Sposito, passed away on Saturday evening, February 2nd at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Pomona, New Jersey. She was 80 years old. Laura was born and raised in Mizpah to Michael and Ada Sposito. She was married in 1956 to Louis N. Yanniello of Mays Landing. Laura was employed by Atlantic City Medical Center, now AtlantiCare as Superintendent of Admissions and then promoted to Director of the Department until she retired in 1994. Laura loved traveling and spending time with her family. Laura was best known for her vivacious personality and for her cooking talents. She enjoyed small talk with neighbors and friends over coffee and entertained mostly every weekend until she became ill with Alzheimer’s disease. She is survived by Her husband, Louis N. Yanniello, her son Louis-Michael Yanniello, her Daughter-in-law, Sondra Dublinsky, and her Grandson, Marc Yanniello, all from Mays Landing, her twin sister and best friend, Eileen Bosco of Vineland, her sister Angela Bucca, of Milmay, and her sister Hilda Galli, now of Millville. Laura is also survived by her nieces, Mitzi Carlson of Vineland, Eileen Bosco, of Cape May Court House, Toni Kolman of Hillsbourogh, and Tina Symanski of Milmay. She is also survived by many great nieces. Laura will be deeply missed. Viewings will be held at Boakes Funeral home 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ, on Friday evening, February 8th from 6-8 PM and on Saturday, February 9th from 10-11 AM at St. Vincent De Paul Church, 5021 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Claude E. Miller and Margaret C. Miller of Mansfield, MA, sisters, Claudia L. Paluccio (Matthew), Marilyn J. Martineau (James) and brother, Ronald E. Miller. He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne M. Miller, daughters, Michele Miller of Cherry Hill, NJ, Cheryl Flamini (Matthew) of Wichita, KS, son, R. Paul Miller (Kimberly) of Sicklerville, NJ, daughters, Regina F. Miller-Scholesser (Eric) of Atlantic City, NJ, Kylene L. Weller (David) of Ocean City, MD, and son, Ryan R. Miller (Shannon) of Egg Harbor Township, NJ. His grandchildren, Trevor, Jake, and Talia Flamini, Ella & Emily Schloesser, and Claudia & Cecilia Weller, his brother Gary S. Miller (Lisa) of Winter Park, Fl., and several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Richard was a graduate of Coyle High where he was an avid athlete playing basketball and football. Richard received his Bachelor of Arts from Northeastern University in Boston, MA where he also played football. He served as captain in the United States Army and held a life-long career in the information technology field, most recently employed by Shore Memorial as a computer analyst. Always with a smile and compliment, Richard enjoyed sun-filled days at the beach, walks on the boardwalk in Ocean City, cruises with his friends, and spending time with his loving grandchildren and family. The family will be accepting visitors for his viewing on Saturday, February 16, from 9:30 – 11 AM, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, where services will be held at 11. On Saturday, February 16, 2013, Edward Vincent Devlin, Jr. of Egg Harbor Township, departed this life to return to the loving arms of his dear mother in Heaven. Edward leaves behind to mourn his loss a beautiful wife of 54 years, Kathleen (Mattle) Devlin, and their seven children, Kathleen Devlin (Ted Misa) of Galloway, Coleen Devlin (Bill Campbell) of EHT, Maureen Devlin of Mays Landing, Edward V. Devlin, III (Daria) of Somers Point, Eileen K. Balesteri (David) of Richland, Michael Devlin of EHT, Kevin T. Devlin (Jennifer) of EHT, and daughters in law Ericca Schwartz of Somers Point and Velma Devlin of Newfield. Mr. Devlin was also the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren, Alan Wright, Robert Wright, Khrystine Wright, Kevin Wright, Samantha Devlin, Clayton Devlin, David Balesteri, Eden Balesteri, Ethan Balesteri, Tierney Devlin, Sydney Devlin, Ryleigh Devlin and Liam Devlin. Edward was also blessed with 2 great-grandchildren, Edward Wright and Aidan Wright. In addition to his mother, Mary (Jensen) Devlin, he is predeceased by his father, Edward Vincent Devlin, Sr., his brother, George Devlin, and his sister Phyllis Craig. He is also survived by 8 brothers and sisters, Catherine (Gene) Reese, Marie (Butch/Harry) Meyers, James (Pat) Devlin, William (Barbara) Devlin, Anna Devlin, Theresa Warner, Anthony (Sunny) Devlin, Sr., and Larry (Diane) Devlin. Uncle Eddie also adored his numerous nieces and nephews. Edward was proud to be called a United States Marine and served our country bravely in Korea. Following his time in the Marine Corp, he became a New Jersey State Trooper in July of 1957 where he retired after 31 years as Lieutenant, stationed at Hammonton Headquarters, Troop A. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. Viewings will be held on Tuesday, February 19th from 6-9pm and Wednesday from 10-11am, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, were services will be held at 11am. Marie Gardner Llanos, 83, of Staley, NC (formerly of the Weymouth section of Hamilton Twp.), passed on to be with God on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro, NC. Marie was born on June 25, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Frederich and Nellie Gardner. She was a homemaker, and a former member of the Weymouth Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. She always took pride in raising her family and being a mother to all. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten by her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Fredrick Llanos, Sr.; son, baby boy, George Fredrick Llanos, Jr.; grandson, Nathaniel Llanos; her brothers, Fred Jr., Jake, Robert, John, and Joseph Gardner; her sisters Helen Morgan, Julia Keller, Shirley Henry, Jean Mezeski, and Frances “Dolly” Peplowski; her nieces and nephews Fred Gardner III, Fred Henry, Bill Keller, Barbara Kramer, and Jerry Gardner. Surviving are daughter Gina Robertson and husband Timothy of Staley, NC; son Dennis Booth and wife Evelyn of Pleasantville; grandchildren: Denise Swanner, Dennis Booth, Jr., Donny Booth, Aaron Llanos, Kristina Fisher, Amber Llanos, and Samuel Robertson; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Saturday 1-2 PM, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where a service will be held at 2 PM. Burial will be in the Weymouth Cemetery. Eugene “Gene” Maslinski, 80, of Mays Landing, died peacefully at home on February 20, 2013. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he entered the U.S. Air Force after high school. He was stationed in Tokyo, Japan where he was in special services as a disc jockey on the Far East radio network. There he had a morning show where he was known as “Early Bird.” After serving in the Air Force, he went to Rider College in Trenton, NJ where he received a BS in Business Administration. Gene was a resident of Berlin, NJ for 35 years. He owned and operated dry cleaning stores in Berlin, Clementon, and Marlton. He belonged to the Berlin Rotary, where he served as Secretary. Music was a very important part of his life. At 16 he played the saxophone for the Uptown String Band in the Mummers Parade. He played the string bass in several local bands, including South Jersey Pops Orchestra in Medford, NJ. In his retirement, he found enjoyment being a substitute teacher in the Atlantic County School System. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Anna Mae (nee Venanzi); son Mark (Stephania) Maslinski of West Berlin, NJ; daughter Karen (Stephen) DeNittis of Moorestown, NJ; and four beautiful grandchildren: Laurel and Zachary Maslinski and Danielle and Victoria DeNittis. A viewing will be held on Monday, February 25, 11 AM – 12 Noon, at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 5021 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 Noon. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Church Building Fund, 5021 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, NJ 08330.

Zawacki, Irene V., 79, of Mays Landing passed away suddenly on February 20, 2013 at her home. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, she lived in Pilesgrove Twp. for 20 years before moving to the Oaks of Weymouth 14 years ago. Irene was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her time at the Senior Center with her friends. Preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Zawacki, Sr., she will be sadly missed by her five children; Michael, Edward L., Jr., Richard, Gail and Lisa, six grandchildren; Marissa Zawacki, Danielle Palillero, Edward L., III, Kristin Hamilton, Emma Zawacki, and Nicholas Bowden, and six great-grandchildren. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, 11 AM, at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 5021 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, where friends may gather from 10 AM until the time of the Mass.
