Vincent A. Schuman, 55 years old of Mays Landing passed away peacefully on November 17, 2012 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on April 17, 1957 in Atlantic City. Vince is predeceased by his parents Gustav and Frances. He attended Our Lady of The Star of The Sea School. Vince was an altar boy at Our Lady Star of The Sea Church. He graduated from Holy Spirit High School, class of 1975. During his early years he worked as a ride operator on the Old Million Dollar Pier on The Atlantic City Boardwalk. Vince joined the Atlantic City Police Department in 1978. He retired in 2005 with the rank of Detective Sergeant. During his tenure with the department he held various assignments including patrol, the motorcycle unit, the general investigation division, the intelligence unit and Internal Affairs. He earned many departmental commendations including the Life Saving Medal and the Combat Cross. He was an avid fisherman in the back bays and along the beaches of Absecon Island. Vince lived life his way. He was a second father to his children’s friends and unconditionally loved and treasured each and every one of them. He will be remembered as a witty, charismatic, honest and loving man, father and Pop Pop. Vince was a classic that will never be forgotten. Vince is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years Diane,children Lauren,Douglas, Sonny,and Daughter in law Rebecca,and grand children Maxiimilian and Sage, his beloved dog Lola and life long best friend who was like a brother William McKnight and his family. A celebration of Vince’s life will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2012 between 2 and 4p.m. at Boakes funeral Home 6050Main Street, Mays Landing, N.J. 08330.
