Helene M. Davis “Nancy” (nee Donlan), 80 – Nancy departed this life on May 15, 2014. Nancy was born on November 11, 1933 in Shenandoah, PA to John and Agnes (Ringheiser) Donlan. Nancy graduated from Shenandoah Catholic High School in 1952. After graduation she went to work for Bell Telephone in Philadelphia. In 1960, she moved to Atlantic City where she was employed as a telephone operator for the city of Atlantic City. It was there that she met her dear late husband William J. “Pete” Davis, Sr. They spent many happy years together. Pete would always refer to her as “my bride.” Nancy moved on from her job as operator for the city and worked for the then Atlantic City Hospital, later becoming the Atlantic City Medical Center. She worked there until retiring in the 1990’s. In their later years Pete and “his bride” had traveled to Europe, throughout the U.S.A. and the Pacific. Nancy enjoyed working in her garden, singing and knitting; but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was the ultimate “Grandmom.” Nancy was predeceased by her parents John and Agnes Donlan, her husband William J. Davis, Sr., her brother John T. Donlan, stepson William J. Davis, Jr. and step granddaughter Julie Davis. She is survived by her son Frank J. Malloy, Sr. (Elaine) of Galloway, NJ; grandchildren: Laura Abelson (Mike) of Mays Landing, Candace Kuhns (Andy) of Egg Harbor Twp., Frank J. Malloy, Jr. and Shannon M. Malloy both of Galloway; great granddaughters Hailey Gould and Hannah Abelson; brother Joseph Donlan (Cecilia) of Media, PA; sister-in-law Bridget Donlan of Toms River, NJ; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – Mainland Meadow unit for their care and understanding in our hour of need. Sarah and all of the staff, including the hospice unit, were as good as they come. We would also like to thank those members of the staff at Meadowview who took the time to care for Nancy. A viewing will be held on Monday, May 19, 6-8 PM, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 11 AM, at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 5021 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, where a viewing will be held from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers we ask that you donate money and time to the Walk for Alzheimers research. You will certainly see us there.
