Aniello “Danny” Mattera, 88 of Mays Landing passed away on Saturday morning, April 27, 2013 following a long illness. Danny retired after 30 years as a mechanic at Gasko Pontiac-Buick. He was a Third Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus. In addition, Danny was an active member of Saint Vincent de Paul Church, the local Boy Scouts, the Brigantine Lodge of the Sons of Italy and the Egg Harbor Seniors. Danny was a World War II navy veteran where he served in the Pacific Arena and remained a member of the VFW. Danny enjoyed gardening and handywork and is survived by Lucy, his loving wife of 64 years; three sons – Jerry, Louis and Patrick; daughter-in-law, Maria; five grandchildren – Michael, Steven, David, Daniel and Michaela; and one great grandson, Luke. A viewing will be held at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing on Monday evening from 7:00pm until 9:00pm and at Saint Vincent de Paul Church, 5021 Harding Hwy, Mays Landing on Tuesday morning from 10:00am until 11:00 followed by Mass. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made in Danny’s name to St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Mays Landing.
